Welcome to our Healthwatch Barnet newsletter for July. We would like to start by thanking our fantastic volunteers who have contributed over 1,700 hours of their time and expertise in helping developing health and social care services. Read on to find out more about their activity and our Healthwatch Barnet projects. Through Volunteers’ Week in June, we held an information session and lunch for our great bunch of Volunteers, and would like to offer a big thank you to all our volunteers who contribute so much to our organisation!

The Argenti Telecare Service in Barnet - Healthcare Technology
On Wednesday 14th June 2017 we celebrated volunteer's week with a celebratory lunch to thank all the hard work our volunteers have contributed throughout the year. We also had a guest speaker from Argenti Telecare Service who provide healthcare technology.

Enter and View: Elmhurst Residential Home
This announced E&V visit was part of a planned strategy to look at the quality of care provided at a range of care & nursing homes within Barnet. Elmhurst Residential Home is a privately run home for up to 30 older people living with dementia.

Enter and View: Acacia Lodge Care Home
This was an announced E&V visit as part of a planned strategy to look at a range of care and nursing homes within Barnet to obtain a better idea of the quality of care provided. Acacia Lodge is a privately run residential home for up to 32 older people, the majority of whom have some form of dementia.

Enter and View: Speedwell House
This was an announced E&V visit as part of a planned set of visits to look at a range of care provision within Barnet to obtain a better idea of the quality of care provided. Speedwell House is a Sheltered Housing Plus unit, which provides for tenants who have been designated by Barnet Social Services as needing day and night care.

A report on patient experience at the fracture clinic at Barnet Hospital
Healthwatch Barnet visited the Fracture Clinic at Barnet Hospital in November 2016. This followed receipt of a number of comments from patients over a period of time that clinics were overcrowded, with some patients forced to stand and that the waiting time at clinics was excessive. However, this report highlights a positive outcome as a result of the Virtual Fracture Clinic
