This is a report presenting the findings of two announced E&V visits as part of a planned strategy to look at sheltered accommodations within Barnet to obtain a better idea of the quality of care provided.

This was an announced E&V visit as part of a planned strategy to look at a range of care and nursing homes within Barnet to obtain a better idea of the quality of care provided. Rosetrees is a purpose built Jewish residential care home, managed by Jewish Care.

Healthwatch Barnet sought the views of people using homecare services and their relatives/carers, including those who use council services, and those who pay for their care privately. Over 40 responses were received.

This was an un-announced E&V visit following a previous visit in May 2016, after some recommendations were made.

During January and February 2016, members of the Healthwatch Barnet End of Life Care Group visited six hospices in North and East London, and Hertfordshire, to carry out face-to face interviews and find out about current practices in EoLC and palliative care.

Healthwatch Barnet carried out a piece of research about the experiences of women who live in Barnet, and used different maternity services across the borough in the last two years.

Read about the experience of one of our volunteers who was invited to participate in a "15 Steps" visit to the Children's Orthoptics Clinic at Vale Drive Primary Care Centre, Barnet. This paediatric eye service includes screening, diagnosis and treatment for children within the Borough.

Healthwatch Barnet has commissioned Home Start Barnet to capture the views of young parents and families with young children, on their experience of how they access dental services. The parents of 96 young children completed 56 questionnaires, representing 56 families.

Healthwatch Barnet held our Annual Meeting at the Subud Centre in East Barnet on 13 October 2016, where we presented the Healthwatch Annual Report and summarised some of the work that the Healthwatch team of staff and volunteers have been undertaking in the last year.
