It is possible to feel alone even if you have friends and family around you, sometimes it really helps to talk to someone new who can just listen and support.

With Christmas not far away, this is a time of the year when people who are lonely can feel a greater sense of loneliness.

Barnet Friends is a telephone service that provides weekly hourly calls for up to 12 months to adults aged 18 to 55 who may be experiencing isolation or loneliness. Volunteer befrienders provide companionship, emotional support, and give information on a range of activities and services.

You can self-refer yourself to get the emotional support you need if you are feeling lonely or socially isolated.

Barnet Friends also accepts referrals from Social Prescribers, GP Practices, non for profit charities and other professionals supporting adults in the borough
