Maternity

The Maternity Volunteer Group is made up of staff and a volunteer who is a retired midwife.  The group have been exploring experiences of maternity care in Barnet. They set up a questionnaire to seek opinions about maternity services which was circulated in late 2015 and early 2016 largely via social media contacting groups in Barnet. The group received 65 responses and these were analysed and reported. The group also met with the providers at the Royal Free Trust and Central London Community Healthcare to explore the issues raised.

The group have been very pleased that issues raised in the report have been positively received by the providers and action taken to address many of them, for example, training in tongue tied condition has been arranged for clinical staff at the Royal Free Trust.

Following this research Healthwatch volunteer Sarah Brown has been asked to attend the Maternity Service Lisiason Committee and is looking forward to contributing to further service developments in Barnet.
